As far as life-changing weeks go, this has to have been one of the biggest.
For a start I finished my job on Friday. This is a pretty big deal since I went through a huge quarter-life crisis in 2011 and went back to uni to transition into the publishing industry. It was 100% worth it but there’s been a huge shift in the industry recently – particularly down here in little NZ – and I’ve decided it’s time to move on. It might not be the complete closing of that chapter – you never know what’s around the corner, but for now I’ve said goodbye to the endless free books (sob!) and the amazing people I met in that role.
So now I have a few days off (although they’re very quickly filling up with plans!) to regroup before starting an exciting new role on Thursday. It’s going to be an interesting challenge, but I’m so excited about it!
So here are the things I figured out last week….
- It’s totally fine to eat non-stop if you plan on starting a month-long paleo challenge in the near future. TOTALLY FINE.
- Speaking of food…… check out what I’ve indulged in over the last few days. I know this is totally ridiculous for one person but I just didn’t care. For that brief moment when you can still remember how delicious it tastes but before the gross feeling has set in. So there’s Danishes at the French markets, crepes at the French creperie, spicy smoothies at the cafe, and mini cupcakes as a special treat from a lovely girl.

- Buying yourself a thirtieth birthday present is a MUST. Firstly, you are reaching this amazing important milestone that many miss out on. Secondly, you have successfully survived through some really tough years. Thirdly, if you buy something timeless and monumental you will have it for the rest of your life. So without further ado, behold, my thirtieth gift to myself. I don’t have it yet – my mum will be bringing it home from the UK in a few weeks – but I’m so.freaking.excited about its arrival. Furthermore, it actually trips me out that I intend to wear this for the rest of my life and could be telling people in 30 years that I bought this for my 30th. Amazing.

That’s all I have today. This week is a big one for me so I’m off to tick a few more things off the to do list!
